Two posts in one day....
So why don’t people drink from China cups and saucers much anymore?
Cons:
1. They are hard to hold on to.
2. They are so small and hardly hold any liquid.
3. They are so delicate you are afraid to break them.
4. They cost so much and you are afraid to break them.
5. They are not microwavable.
6. They sit in your china cabinet and you forget about them.
7. Can’t find a proper spoon to use with them.
8. You are afraid to break them.
9. Can’t afford to buy a whole set
10. Never have enough to go around when you have a special occasion.
Pros:
1. You use them to mark very special occasions
2. You feel so special using them.
3. You feel dainty using them
4. You look like you are rich when you use them
5. They make lovely gifts for hard to buy people
6. You can make your china cabinet look nice by displaying them
Why do we have fancy dishes and silverware to mark special occasions? Why don’t we celebrate life every day and use the special stuff. One day we will be all gone and what good was having all the special stuff displayed in a china cabinet?
When was the last time you treated your family to the expensive stuff just for the sake of telling them they are special? I think we should bring out the special stuff more often. I am sorry I didn’t do it while my husband was alive. I should have celebrated with him on a regular basis. Now it is too late.
I challenge each and every one of you to make a special date within the next week.
Take out the fanciest tablecloth you have. Set the table with the fanciest dishes you have. Light candles. Play soft music in the background and make a memory for your family. It doesn’t matter what you serve for dinner as they will just wonder what the special occasion is.
I think every one needs to be treated special once in awhile.
For those of you with children... why not make some memories for them by just having a special dinner with you and one child. Send the others out with their daddy or mommy and take that special time with that one child. Use the fancy dishes and cutlery and spoil that child. It will create a memory that will be cherished for years to come. You can’t buy memories like that. It is never too late. It doesn’t matter if your child is grown up or not - Just DO IT. You never know when it might be your last chance to tell them how special they are.
Some things can be put off but please DON’T PUT THIS OFF. It is very important.
I am declaring October as MAKE FAMILY MEMORIES MONTH.
Making memories doesn’t have to cost a lot, but in the end, they are worth millions.
Anyone have any ideas, please feel free to post them all this month. Let’s share the memories we make with one another.
Hope you make a special day for your family.

I love that idea of making a family memory. I enjoyed the Christmas you had in the summer once. I don't have any idea yet though.
Great idea--I'll have to try that. Maybe we'll do it with little Max.
Does it count that all of our kids were already planning to come home next wk/wknd and we have a full schedule while they are here? We will be making memories for sure!
When our boys were little we had "Special Bear" (a small ceramic bear). If Special Bear was sitting at your place on the breakfast table the whole day was JUST FOR YOU. All your favorite foods for meals, a small dime store gift at the dinner table, you got to pick the bed time story, you were the "helper" in the kitchen, etc etc. Sadly during a move Special Bear was lost...but we continued to honor each child at least once a month.
There you go...my addition to your request.
Pam - I love the Special Bear Idea. Wish I had that one when my kids were little.
Dar - Maybe you could start a special bear idea.
Thanks all for your comments. Keep them coming and let me know what you do.
Maddy just got her ears pierced. I should see these earings you make.
Oop, sorry about the double comment there.
